“When you counsel someone, you should appear to be reminding him of something he had forgotten, not of the light he was unable to see.”

What is a Life Coach?

A life coach is someone who can help you improve your life, feel better and more confident about yourself, and assist you with achieving your goals. You may be wondering, however, what does a life coach do and what should you expect.

Therapist v. Life Coach

Therapists analyze their client’s past in order to understand certain behaviors and why they occur, where life coaches assist clients with moving forward, setting goals, and achieving results. Therapists focus on the client’s mental challenges and behavioral patterns so they can treat the problem. A life coach provides their clients with the tools to build confidence, accept change, and grow.

When should you seek the assistance of a Life Coach

  • When you want to set goals for yourself and stay focused.

  • When you are ready to advance in your career.

  • When you lose your ambition and are ready to take your life to a new level.

  • When you are ready to accept “change”.

  • When you want to stop unhealthy habits or patterns.

  • When you are trying to transition from a divorce, death, or addiction, and you need guidance.

  • When you reach a point in your life where you are feeling incomplete.

  • When you walk away from an abusive relationship or addiction and lack the confidence or strength to move forward.

Are you ready for a positive change in your life? Do you lack the motivation and confidence to move forward? I have worked as a paralegal for over 30 years and I'm a certified Life Coach specializing in career goals, domestic violence, and families struggling with addiction. I am also a person, that against all odds, has managed to re-surface and rebuild my life whenever it decided to throw me a curve ball.

I've had my own life experiences as a victim of domestic violence, a recent divorce, and my battle to save a family member from an opiate addiction. I have been there, done that, and I can relate with the feeling of hopelessness that these types of life changing experiences can have on a person. Once you recognize the problem for what it is and walk away, you are then forced to accept the fact that everything you’ve known and were accustomed to, whether it be good or bad, is now gone and your life is about to change. When you finally have the strength to overcome these obstacles and the roles that you've played over the years, whether it was as an enabler of an addict, the victim of an abuser, or the lost soul who no longer has the confidence nor the ambition to pursue their dreams anymore, you can truly embrace a new life.

When you are finally able to get past the loss, abuse, defeat, or addiction, you almost lose your identity of who you are. You can choose to lay down and take life’s beating and accept defeat by continuing to allow your experiences enable you from moving forward, or you can take action and start a new positive chapter in your life filled with the dreams you once had. You fall into a pattern of cautiousness and before you know it, another year has passed by, and then another. You find yourself reverting to the same old excuses... It's too late... I'm too tired... I'm too old... it won't ever happen for me... There is no time clock on our lives, nor are there any alarms that signal the end is coming, so when is the right time to tackle your goals. I have fallen and I have risen multiple times throughout my life, and I come back stronger each time. I was never that person who could say I had a “Lucky Break” or the “Opportunity of a Lifetime” or even a raffle winner for that matter, instead, I accepted what life had given me and I've grown from it...and so can you.

The most difficult part of the process is staying focused and overcoming the various setbacks that will cause you to doubt and question your ability to reach your goals. A life coach will create a plan that will help you reach your goals, provide you with moral support and encouragement, and alternative options and resources that you can resort to when you run into setbacks along the way.

It took me years to realize that transformation is an inside job, and change is a process that can have a positive effect on your life with a little guidance. Let's work through your journey in life together and learn how to use those bad experiences towards a positive new way of living.

Good and bad experiences are both crucial for growth and for your future endeavors. I have successfully overcome and embraced the positive changes in my life. I want my clients to learn how to identify and address the issues that are causing their insecurities, fear, and anxiety, so you can challenge your own perception of the unknown and impossible. I’ve learned how to let go and allow change which has given me a different perspective on life. If you are ready to make some positive changes in your life, please give me a call to schedule an appointment to discuss your goals, and let’s find a solution on how you can reach them by putting a plan in place.
